The 44 players were selected following the conclusion of the 2024-25 regular season and 2025 MLS NEXT Cup. To be eligible for selection, players must have been born between 2008-10 and have competed in either the MLS NEXT regular season or in at least one of MLS NEXT’s premier events – MLS NEXT Fest, MLS NEXT Flex, Generation adidas Cup, or MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs.
The 'Caps duo join three previous Whitecaps FC BMO Academy players selected to the MLS NEXT All-Star Game.
Deo, 17, has had a busy year. At the MLS NEXT level with the ‘Caps U-18 squad, the Canadian fullback started 24 matches, scoring three times and adding four assists. In addition to playing in MLS NEXT with the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy, the native of Port Coquitlam, BC has also made seven appearances and one start in MLS NEXT Pro with Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) after making his pro debut with one appearance in 2024. In his lone start, he recorded his first career assist on March 14 at North Texas SC.
At the international level, Deo helped Canada qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar this November. Deo came through Langley United in the BC Soccer Premier League before joining the Whitecaps FC Pre-Academy, followed by the MLS Academy in 2022.
Brown, 16, was the leading scorer in the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy with a total of 33 goals – 27 scored for the U-16s, and six scored for the U-18s. Brown ranked second in total goals scored among all MLS academy players in the pro player pathway. His production helped the U-16 team reach the Round of 16 of the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, while his performances also saw him named MLS NEXT Player of the Month for February, and to the Generation adidas Rising XI in April.
In May, Brown was one of eight Whitecaps FC BMO Academy players called up to Canada’s U-16 national team. Brown joined the ‘Caps through the Pre-Academy in 2022 after previously playing with Langley United in the BC Soccer Premier League.
Of the 44 players set to compete in Monday night’s match, almost half have progressed to sign Homegrown deals or appear in MLS NEXT Pro. Approximately 65% of former MLS NEXT All-Stars have signed professional contracts, and more than 30 alumni have gone on to impress in MLS this season, including Jeevan Badwal (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Cavan Sullivan (Philadelphia Union), Zavier Gozo (Real Salt Lake), Jonathan Shore (New York City FC), and Benjamin Cremaschi (Inter Miami CF).
MLS NEXT and Allstate will provide the players with unique opportunities during MLS All-Star Week, which will include a full slate of programming events. The players will be fully immersed in MLS All-Star Week festivities, including team training, the All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T on July 22, and the MLS All-Star Game on July 23.
