Whitecaps FC sign Thomas Müller to contract extension through 2027 MLS Sprint Season

German legend has recorded 31 goal contributions in 45 appearances since joining Whitecaps FC in August 2025

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that the club has signed German legend Thomas Müller to a Designated Player contract extension through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season.

There is no question that we have reached new heights as a club since Thomas arrived. We made our first-ever MLS Cup and have established ourselves as one of the top teams in the league. Thomas has played a significant role in that success through his world-class talent, performances, and leadership on the pitch. We are delighted to have him extend his time with us as we continue our pursuit of trophies on all fronts.”

Since joining Whitecaps FC in August 2025, Müller has been a key figure in the club's surge as one of Major League Soccer's top sides. The Raumdeuter has recorded a team-high 31 goal contributions since making his debut for Vancouver, tallying 19 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. He has also helped lead the 'Caps to a 19W-4L-6D record in his 29 MLS starts, including the MLS Cup Playoffs.

This season, Müller has started 23 of his 32 appearances across all competitions, recording 10 goals and eight assists. Additionally, Müller leads the team in chances created with 51 and big chances created with 13 in MLS play. He has received league recognition for his performances, earning five MLS Team of the Matchday selections and being named to the 2026 MLS All-Star Game roster in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he set a new record while winning the shooting challenge crown.

Müller immediately made an impact in his first season with the 'Caps. The native of Welheim, Germany started 12 of his 13 appearances in 2025 and set a club-record for the most consecutive games with a goal contribution across all competitions with nine goals and four assists in eight matches. The stretch included his MLS Player of the Matchday performance against Philadelphia Union, which saw him record his sixth career hat-trick and become the first player in MLS history to score a hat-trick on their birthday.

Müller also cemented himself as the most decorated German player of all-time by winning the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship and the 2025 MLS Western Conference Championship, leading Whitecaps FC to a first-ever appearance at MLS Cup.

Across his distinguished career, Müller has made 932 appearances for club and country, winning an impressive 36 titles and registering 315 goals as well as 291 assists.
