VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) has loaned midfielder Vasco Fry to Canadian Premier League team Vancouver FC through to the end of the 2023 season.
Fry, 21, tallied 14 starts and 17 appearances for WFC2 in MLS NEXT Pro this season. In 2022, the Peruvian-Canadian midfielder started 21 of his 23 appearances during his first year with the side, recorded a goal, as well as three assists.
The native of Lima, Peru has also spent time with the first team, making four appearances during 2023 preseason camp and signing three MLS short-agreements over the last two seasons. Fry made his first team debut earlier this year as a substitute in the club's Concacaf Champions League match at Real C.D. España on March 15.
Prior to joining WFC2, Fry competed with the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) league from 2018 to 2021 and spent time playing with the Whitecaps FC U-23 team from 2019 through 2021.
Fry originally joined Whitecaps FC in August 2018 after previously playing with the youth teams of Peruvian first division side Sporting Cristal.
Internationally, the midfielder has represented Peru at the youth level, earning two appearances with the U-17 national team.
