SANDY, UT – Vancouver Whitecaps FC returned to winning ways with a dominant performance in a thorough 3-0 away victory over Real Salt Lake.
The Blue and White’s stars shone brightly, as striker Brian White and attacking midfielder Thomas Müller recorded first-half goals, along with left winger Yadaly Diaby notching his first goal and assist for his new club.
The three points meant Whitecaps FC (15W-4D-6L, 49 points) retained top of the Western Conference table, opening up a five-point gap on Houston, St. Louis, and Dallas, with a game in hand.
After the curtain lifted, Whitecaps FC silenced the America First Field faithful in the ninth minute.
Diaby clipped a low cross to pinching right back Édier Ocampo at the far post – he twisted to deliver a bicycle kick back across goal. Diaby then recovered the ball to lay off for Oliver Larraz. The midfielder's ball into the box dipped to airborne striker Brian White, who tipped it in for his 16th MLS goal of 2026 past goalkeeper Rafael Cabral.
With nine games remaining, White has already equalled his career-high league scoring output from last season.
Emmanuel Sabbi then took charge. At full speed, he engaged in a 20-yard duel versus midfielder Colin Guske. Sabbi calmly juked to bolt free and launched a 22-yard rocket to put Cabral on notice.
The Blue and White put the Claret and Cobalt under siege.
Whitecaps FC found a second moment of glory through a trio of superb passes. Ocampo spotted Diaby, who cut across the 18-yard line. The 26-year-old Guinean international displayed a Mensa level of on-field IQ – he used White as a dummy to draw Real Salt Lake’s defenders close – before spotting a sprinting Müller at the far side of the box. The German legend cracked a thunderbolt into the top corner for 2-0.
In the second half, RSL's Sergi Solans whirled to collect a loose ball, but his subsequent smash was bravely blocked by substitute centre back Mathías Laborda. The ball ricocheted off the woodwork and out of danger.
Past the hour, Diaby went from his first goal contribution to his premiere goal for the 'Caps. After White pressured Claret and Cobalt centre back Sam Junqua to cough up the ball, Diaby pounced and hit a powerful drive that Cabral’s outstretched palm couldn't handle.
The 'Caps finished the match strong, proving again why they have been at the top of the Western Conference throughout the season.
