VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC winger Emmanuel Sabbi has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 8 following his performance in the ’Caps 3–0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Friday night. The victory extended Vancouver's best-ever start to an MLS regular season and kept them atop the Supporters’ Shield standings with a 7W-1L-0D record (21 points).
Sabbi opened the scoring in the 13th minute, smashing home a loose ball off the crossbar. Fifteen minutes later, the product of Columbus, Ohio did well to keep the ball in along the right sideline before delivering a picture-perfect cross onto the head of Thomas Müller, extending the ’Caps lead to 3–0.  Sabbi now has four goal contributions on the season (2G, 2A) and earns his first selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday this year.
