WEEKLY STORYLINES
VAISAKHI CELEBRATION MATCH: Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue to lead the Western Conference, equalling their 2015 season with the best start in the MLS era. On Saturday, Vancouver will return to MLS action as they host their fourth annual Vaisakhi Celebration Match against Colorado Rapids, who have equalled their best start since 2014 with 11 points in their first six matches. There will be several events taking place prior to kickoff. Supporters are invited to join the Fan Zone on Terry Fox Plaza, where a lively and colourful pre-match celebration will take place in collaboration with RED FM. The Sikh Motorcycle Club will once again lead the march to the match down Robson Street. In stadium entertainment is in partnership with 5X and will include DJ Kokaheena, anthem singer Raman Bains, and renowned musician Asad Khan.
MAINTAINING THE STANDARD: There's been plenty of early season success for new 'Caps head coach Jesper Sørensen, including a first-ever 4W-0L-0D start to the MLS regular season for the club and embarking on an impressive run to the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals. Sørensen hopes the team can continue maintaining that standard of success throughout the year, as the 'Caps will be looking to stay in first place in the West with a win on Saturday and progress to the semifinals of Champions Cup next week with a tasty second leg against Pumas on deck. With a victory against the Rapids, the Blue and White would also set a record for their best seven-game start to an MLS regular season.
