Vancouver Whitecaps FC locked down another important member of the club's eSports team on Thursday, re-signing Alex "Exraa" Gonzalez for the FIFA 22 season.
In his second year with the 'Caps, Exraa had a phenomenal FIFA 21 season. The resident of Regina, Saskatchewan won the FIFA Global Series North American Qualifier 1 title in dominating fashion, impressing onlookers from around the world.
He ended the year ranked among the top two Xbox players in Canada, and among the top 16 in North America.
"We're thrilled to welcome Alex back to the team for 2022," said Tyler Wilson, Whitecaps FC eSports general manager. "Alex is one of the most dominant players in our country, and he's only just getting started. We're proud to have him continue wearing our colours and representing the club on the world stage."
This weekend EA will be releasing a special FIFA 21 Global Series Vancouver Whitecaps FC TIFO featuring Exraa as a viewership reward during the North American playoffs. Viewers who watch one hour of the broadcast with an EA linked Twitch account will be eligible.
