KAMLOOPS, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC finished their regular season in the men's division of League1 BC after a 4-1 defeat against Rivers FC in Kamloops. The 'Caps (5W-3L-4D) will now prepare to defend their championship in the League1 BC playoffs, facing either Altitude FC or TSS Rovers in the semifinals.
The Blue & White fielded a younger than usual side, with multiple players from their U-17 and U-16 BMO Academy teams.
Whitecaps FC faced an early setback, as Felix Masson was shown a red card in the 30th minute.
Rivers FC would capitalize just before halftime, as former Whitecaps FC BMO Academy player Elijah Dos Santos pounced on a loose ball in the box.
The home side would add three more in the second half, before Amir Ghasemi scored a late consolation goal for the 'Caps.
That would prove to be in the only scoring in the match, as the 'Caps now turn their attention to the postseason.
