'Caps lead MLS Team of the Matchday 4 with Laborda, Berhalter, White

VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Mathías Laborda, midfielder Sebastian Berhalter, and forward Brian White have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 4 following their performances in the 'Caps thrilling 6-0 dismantling of Minnesota United FC on Sunday at BC Place. The win saw the 'Caps equal their best start to an MLS season (4W-0L-0D) and marked the third time scoring six or more goals in a match in their MLS era.

Laborda earns his first selection to the Team of the Matchday this season after scoring his first of the year and adding an assist on Cheikh Sabaly's goal in the second half, all while putting in a clean sheet performance at the back. The Uruguayan tallied five clearances, three successful duels, two tackles, as well as one block and one recovery. He also created two big chances and posted a passing accuracy of 84%.

Meanwhile, Berhalter continued his fine start to the season by tallying the opening goal of the match from the penalty spot and adding two assists. The USMNT international leads the 'Caps in goal contributions across all competitions this season with seven (three goals, four assists) and is now up to 46 total goal contributions for the 'Caps in all competitions. Sunday's victory marked the third time in Berhalter's career he's tallied three goal contributions in one match, having done so twice last season - at Inter Miami CF (one goal, two assists) and against San Jose Earthquakes (two goals, one assist in 4-1 win). In addition to his offensive prowess, Berhalter recorded six successful duels, five tackles, four recoveries, and two interceptions. This is already Berhalter's third selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season (Matchday 1, Matchday 3).

Lastly, White recieved his second consecutive selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday (Matchday 3) after vaulting up the MLS Golden Boot charts with another brace. He is now tied with FC Dallas forward Petar Musa for the league-lead in goals with five. In addition, it turned out to be another milestone day at BC Place for White, as he became the first player in the club's MLS era to reach 100 goal contributions across all competitions (84 goals, 16 assists). He also registered three recoveries, one clearance, and created one chance.
