LANGLEY, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency graduates Terran Campbell and Gloire Amanda notched their third goals of the season for Whitecaps FC 2 (6W-13L-7D) in a 2-1 victory over LA Galaxy II (6W-14L-4D) on Sunday afternoon at McLeod Athletic Park.
It didn’t take long for the fun to get started in this one.
WFC2 opened the scoring in the fourth minute on the second phase of a Marco Bustos free kick. Eventually, the ball fell to Campbell, who smashed a well-taken half-volley into the bottom right corner after a nice layoff from fellow Whitecaps FC Residency graduate David Norman Jr.

LA’s Ethan Zubak, who looked dangerous in the early going, responded in the 24th minute with a calm finish after getting in behind the ‘Caps back line.
Both keepers were forced to make key diving saves in the latter stages of the first half to keep the score level. In the 36th minute, Vancouver’s Spencer Richey turned away a 20-yard Jack McBean free kick before LA’s Eric Lopez denied a heavy Bustos strike from outside the box after a fantastic individual effort from the Winnipeg, Manitoba native.
Bustos, who was lively all afternoon, also had his chances in the second half, getting in behind with some clever runs from midfield. But he simply couldn’t beat Lopez, who finished the match with eight saves. The ‘Caps kept coming though and eventually found a winner in the 83rd minute.
After a Michael Baldisimo attempt was blocked, Amanda picked up the ball at the corner of the box and fired home a perfect, near-post strike to seal the victory for WFC2.
