VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Brian White has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 7 following his performance in the 'Caps 2-0 victory against Eastern Conference side New York City FC at BC Place. The win saw the 'Caps extend their best-ever start to an MLS regular season and take pole position in the Supporters' Shield standings with their 6W-1L-0D record (18 points).

White scored his sixth goal of the season in the win, with all his tallies coming in his seven MLS appearances. His headed finish, which came in the 87th minute off a first 'Caps assist for Ecuadorian Bruno Caicedo, was the club's 700th MLS regular season goal and his 85th strike across all competitions for the club, further extending his reign as the 'Caps MLS era leading goalscorer. In addition, White tallied six successful duels won, three recoveries, 12 shots of which seven were on target, and one chance created. This marks White's third selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season (Matchday 3, Matchday 4).
